Default 2001 AR secondary air injection system error codes

I have a 2001 Allroad with 6-speed manual trans
I took it in for an oil change and to have the spark plugs changed. A few days after that my engine light came on. Its throwing codes
P1423 -- Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 2: Insufficient Flow
P0441 -- Secondary Air Injection System; Bank 1: Insufficient Flow

Took it back to the shop and big suprise they say its nothing they did. So I gave them an hour to see if they could find the cause. After an hour they say they think it is an electrical problem but can give me any idea how long it will take to track down.
They also said the did a vacum check and no leaks.

Need some advice on what to do next. Don't trust my local dealers and not sure if I trust this place now.

Thanks,
Mark

- Check fuse for secondary air injection pump
- Check vacuum hoses
- Check piping from pump to secondary air injection valve (combi valve)

Check number 8, engine rear/close to firewall if it's plugged in completely. If the second Air fails it will make a suction kind of noise

Could be coincidence because all it takes is a small vacuum leak anywhere. The secondary air injection self test runs shortly after cold start when vacuum is low anyway. A small leak anywhere will bleed enough vacuum so that the AIS diverter valves don't open enough to allow enough flow to adequately affect O2 response. usual component failure is turbo by-pass valves. Of course all those vacuum hoses are suspect too.
There's one opinion..........

Default Also you can get the evap purge valve. I had some issues with

mine a while back and when I replaced that valve all problems were resolved.

As soon as I opened the hood and started taking a look I saw this.
This hose is hooked up to the secondary air injection valve (combi valve) on the passanger side. The other end goes into the end of a steel hose line. Is the replacement just the rubber hose or is the hose and the steel part all one piece?

Could this be my problem?

Thanks,
Mark
