Default 2001 model year info please, 01 vs. 01.5

ok, so I am looking at a local 2001 with 1.5 years of warrantee left. This is good and its a local car to me with below average mileage.

I've searched and read of the turbo plumbing redesign after 2001.5. What are the tell-tale give aways that I can use to determine if this car is an 01 or an 01.5?

Any comments about 2001 stereo system compared to 2002?

What about installing a hitch? Is that harder on a 2001? Were the holes missaligned and subsequently fixed?

I think most other changes were somewhat cosmetic, although I would miss the tip-sport mode.

Thanks in advance all!

Default I don't know of any 01.5 designation. I think all '01 allroads got the turbo revisions from the S4.

AFAIK an '01 allroad is an '01 allroad.

2001 stereo vs 2002 differed in that 2002+ has a 6 cd changer. The single player is better IMO if you want to add a Phatbox or other item from the trunk area.

Hitch is same in 01 as other model years.

Default Did revisions include changing the plumbing to remove the F-Hose? Early '01 has F-hose.

01 allroads are all the same. All revisions were present from first production

Default Anyone know when in 2001 production would switch to 2002?

Although it seems to be a moot point now.

Default Hitch is same but

2001 did not include the wiring harness. Adding the wiring harness takes about as much time as the rest of the install.

The installation instructions warn that you may need to add nut plates for the main anchor bolts, but my 2001 already had the nut plates.

Default If it is a TiptroniC then...

Then it should be on it's second or third transmission by now.
