Default 2002 owners with a GIAC Tip Chip

Any 02 owners using the GIAC tip chip. Feedback Please. Are you using the ecu chip also? I know the ecu will make the car faster but I'm curious about the tranny being quicker and smoother perhaps???

I did a search on the board and found some info.

Default Re: 2002 owners with a GIAC Tip Chip

I had the tip chip and it gave me a lot of headaches. Tons of falt codes and my airbag and ride control light would come on all the time. Final the car would not start so I had it removed and keep the ECU chip in. I think it runs better without the tip chip. Sop my advice os ave your $$ on the tip chip.

Default I have it on a 2001

I've had the GIAC tip cip on a 2001 ar for about 6 weeks now and have not had any problems. I can't say that I've noticed a huge difference in shifting. I decided to get the tip chip as a complement to the ECU chip. I became convinced that the tip chip help the tranny handle the extra torque produced by the ECU chip but I have nothing to back that up. There is another guy on the board that has a 2001 with both GIAC chips and he recently had a strange tranny issue. I beleieve it was "Nebuchadnezzar."

Default Go to the A6 forum and click on one of Stoney's posts.

He has a link to a FAQ with all kinds of stuff including a recoding of the Tip with a VAG tool.

My weird issue was a fluke... it's all good and nothings broke.

Default He's up to his eyeballs in the new facility and new A4 chip.

He's quite aware he needs to sort it out, just hasn't had time yet.

Have you been by the new shop ? Think CEC showroom crossed with Dinan workshop.
