Default 2004 Allroad 4.2L Engine Air Filter

I changed the engine air filter in my 2004 Allroad 4.2L. I am having trouble securing the clip that is closest to the firewall (closest to the engine and firewall). I can reach the clip, but can not get my fingers back behind it enough to secure. Does anyone have a technique to secure?

The answer was, thank god they still make metal coat hangers!

Apparently the same stupid, inaccessible design as on the 2.7t...I had to use one long and one short flathead screwdriver from 2 angles simultaneously to pop it back on. NOT user friendly.
