245/45/18 Does it Fit?

Hi all, today I sent my wife to get 245/45/18 V12s on my C6 winter wheels which are 18x8.5. Tech comes back after mounting the V12s telling her that the new tires are too big and a rubbing inside against the struts. The tech went on to say that he is going to order 245/40/18 from his warehouse and he belives that should fix the problem. I was puzzled by this because I though that 245/45/18 would fit with no problems and keep enough meat to not compromise ride confort which my wife loves. Now that they are going to be lower profile she wants OEM 17 back. Is anyone riding on 245/45/18 without problems? What if I space it out 10mm would that work?

Probably has nothing to do with the tire size, but rather the offset of the wheels. Allroad OEM 17's have only 25mm (WAY less than many other Audi's) which creates wide track.
18's with the right offset would NOT rub with 245/45/18 (the correct size tire, with correct rolling diameter).
Don't know the offset on your C6 18's, but if it's too much more than 25mm (combined with wider rim), that brings the wheel closer to the struts...tire size is not doing it.

Looks like all you need is a 10mm spacer....take at look at what ECS Tuning has for spacer kits. H&R too...spend the money on GOOD ones. Cheap spacers can be a nightmare.
I run 255/40/19s with a 10mm spacer on et35mm RS6 rims. No problems. Even a 15mm will work but 10mm should do be enough for you.
