Default 255/40/19 set-up

Looking at doing a 19" RS4 set up with 255/40/19 tires. The ET on them is 35mm. I know our allroads like a 20mm offset and I also know that others are running 255's. So do I need 15mm spacers, some other size or perhaps nothing at all given the wide 255 width. TIA

Default Spacers, I'd say...

...because with 255s on ET35 wheels, the inside sidewall will be something like 1.2" farther inboard (15mm = 0.6" from the wheel, plus half the extra tire width, another 15mm or so). Seems like there's not that much extra clearance in there, at least when the suspension flexes. HPH

Default Here's someone that was running a 255/40/19 on an a/r with a 19x9

I believe these wheels were a 20mm offset...so with a spacer this is what you'll end up with

clicky for post on a/r with 19x9's and 255/40/19

So you think 15mm would do it?

Default Well...

Stock offset (unless they've changed it) is ET25, so a 10mm spacer on an ET35 wheel would re-center it.

The question of whether the tires are too big, though, is tougher. 15mm spacers would put the wheel 5mm outboard of centerline and deal with half of the extra inboard bulk I mentioned previously. Whether that's enough to clear all the parts in there needs to be estimated by someone who's done it. HPH

Don't like the wheels, but the fat tires are, uh, phat, as they say.

Default Wouldn't a 35mm offset with a 15mm spacer get you exactly what was done with the SPP wheels??

That's the model I was working off of and it seems that all was fine. Granted when we get into a suspension geometry discussion things quickly get beyond me...but in terms of simply "fitting" and not rubbing it seems that an offset of 20mm (whether achieved via a spacer or??) on a 19x9 wheel and a 255/40/19 has worked...am I missing something?

Not looking for a debate...if I'm off..tell me why...I want to have a better understanding of these things and god knows I have a lot to learn.

Again...not talking about suspension geometry...just a good working solution that doesn't rub

Thanks

Default I've got 255/45/18's on 8.5" rims, ET30 with 5mm spacers.

Default I thought those rims were 18x8 - where'd you get the 8.5" rims from?

BTW your setup looks great and I'll likely get a very similiar combo. I need to decide between the Michelin A/S and Toyo T1S.
