Default Geo do yourself a favor -- you've already got the S4...

and while I agree that the ar looks great with 19 inch wheels, you will find that the car doesn't really "like" them much. I mean that the degredation in ride quality, the banging around in the cabin , the rattles, the sqeaks -- these will very much degrade your quality of life in the ar. I have 18 inch rims with s-03's and while it handles and looks great - the reality is that when i put my Dunlop WS M2s on the 17 inch stockers the car is transformed into a civilized, and pleasant ride. You already have the S4 to hammer. The ar really seems more appropriately shod with the 17 inchers or real soft 18 inchers -- I dont know which tire although I have toyed with the Dunlop M3 WS (i know its a snow tire) in 18 inch size as an idea... Default There are two issues...

...and I hope I get this right. This offset stuff causes me brain lock on occasion -- but I finally repeated "smaller numbers stick out farther" over and over until I remembered it.

The first issue is suspension geometry. Unless they changed it in recent model years, stock allroad wheels have a 25mm offset (ET25), and wheels built to this specification mount such that their centerline is where Audi intended it to be on these cars. (This is independent of wheel width. If you look at that TireRack pic ture and imagine the wheel getting wider and wider, it does so symmetrically on either side of the centerline if the offset stays the same.) So keeping the geometry constant with wider wheels means keeping the offset constant.

The other issue is clearance. To keep the inside edge of the wheel at the same distance from all the suspension components, you need to decrease the offset by half of the size increase over 7.5" (the stock width). Assuming this translates directly to tire size (a dangerous assumption) means you decrease the offset by half the tire width increase over 225mm. This, of course, destroys the geometry.

So, if the SPP wheels are 9" wide, they're about 38mm wider than the stock ones, meaning a 19mm spacer would put the inboard edges of the wheels at the same place relative to the suspension and so on. The 255 tires, on the other hand, are only 30mm wider, meaning a 15mm spacer puts them (nominally) at the same clearance as stock.

On the other hand, the 15mm spacers move the wheel centerlines -- and, aside from camber issues, this is where the force from the road is transmitted to the suspension -- 5mm farther outboard than the stock design.

Given all the cars I see around here with wheels sticking outboard to the next county (the lowrider crowd has a big following here), this 5mm couldn't be too much of a problem. HPH
