Cold weather, gas smell at startup. Turns out all 6 fuel injectors are leaking. At least one is leaking really bad, fuel running out in a healthy little stream. Gas fumes pouring out from under the beauty covers like steam from boiling water. Yikes!
So I'm standing by to replace o-rings, but it seems weird they would all fail at once. The vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator seems to be ok, although it's a little crunchy. It looks like it might allow a change in fuel pressure when the engine is under boost, and a vacuum leak would set the fuel pressure higher than normal. Am I understanding the system right?
So, my question is this: Is this coincidence they started leaking at the same time? Or is it likely to be something like a fuel pressure regulator that's making them all leak? Maybe I just noticed the one that's leaking really bad and the others have been leaking a little bit all along?
