6-Speed and reverse

6-Speed and reverse
I have a problem with reverse every now and then. The problem is that the car will not go in reverse at all, unless I move forward a little bit. Today I tried lots of force and stick would not engage the gear. Anybody have this problem? I am close to my first oil change, so I will have the dealer look into the problem.

Most VW derived trannies do that from time to time
If its the problem I'm thinking of anyway. Sometimes you can't get it to go into reverse - you need to put it in neutral, take your foot off the clutch, and try again. Then it works. Every VW/Audi I've ever driven has done this occasionally (come to think of it, so have other car makes)
Unless you have a different problem?

Easy Fix
My Saab and Subaru also suffered from this problem. The easiest fix is to just put it back in neutral, release the clutch (gets things spinning in the gearbox), then clutch and gently try reverse again. I guessing the synchros only work when things are moving.
