Default Sorry to here this "R". Wasn't it about a year ago (or more) someone mentioned a DSG possability?

I am too darn busy to search. Ahh, OK lazy.

Default You sure you didn't pop a CV joint???

If you had the wheel cranked while turning into the spot could do it.

BTW, don't preach to me about quattro and AWD. Doing that would just indicate ones complete lack of understanding of the quattro system.

Just a thought....

Default that truly sucks!!!

We've had pretty good luck with European Auto Works in Mtn View. My wife's car goes there occasionally. They handle all Euro stuff, not an Audi specialist. The owner is an ASE tech, and they explain stuff pretty completely. Kinda far for you, though.

Default Thanks Dan for the lead... It's not too far considering the peninsula is

not very TIP friendly.

QCRAZY: the trans seems likely because of the constant 17125 code (TqC) but I havent looked under the car yet this morning. The front CV/axle assy. were both replaced about 3000 miles ago. I think RMcQ broke one of his new "raxle" ones so anything is possible. It sure would be preferable.

Default Rats....this really sucks but if it's not a CV or so then you should be able to have it fixed...

Shops like Level10 could help to make it a better transmission.....and just in case, my old tranny will go on sale soon, needs a band for 4th and 5th gear....good luck and keep us posted please

Well the grind noise happens if I give a bit of throttle and the car is stationary - I would think the other three axles would want to turn that's why I wasn't thinking CV was NOT possible but maybe you guys know more. So tell me???

Default Well the Jetta was front wheel drive but...

...only one joint went and the whole car refused to move. Let me ask you this, have you noticed any clicking or knocking noises lately when you steered in either direction? This is usually indicative of a failing CV. I have no idea how the AWD would respond to a failed CV.

No noises up there... the whole front assy (both sides) replaced 3k ago.

I'm hoping it's just the TqC which seems most likely.

Isn't reverse not engaging the common tell for a bad TqC? How has your reverse been?
