Default Adding an amp/sub to the AR?

I have a few years old Sony Xplod amp and sub and was wondering how to and where to put them if I were going to put them in the AR. I like the sound from the bose, but it seems like it could use a little more umph.

In the old car (honda) it, the amp, was hidden under the drivers seat, but I've read here that maybe in back in one of the pannels would work.

Also it has some preamp inputs to get the signal from the head unit (in the honda this was done by running leads from the rear speakers to an RCA converter), but I'm not sure of which plugs control this in the Bose.
Could I just replace the Bose amp in the car with this one? Would that be a good idea? I'm at a loss here. Any information would help.

Default I have 2 Xplod amps sitting around as well. Maybe tap in before the crossovers?

I wanted to know this piece of info, too.. My guess is in order to keep all the OEM controls intact, tap into speaker lineout before the OEM crossover?? Is the OEM speaker 4 ohms? Can the OEM speaker handle the amped power?

Will swapping out just the OEM speakers w/ better one w/o amps do the trick?

TIA

I haven't yet tackled this project, but I'd like to. I did find a site with some good info regarding upgrading the factory system... you might be particularly interested in the "interface" section.

Default If you are planning to add an amp...

and possibly speakers and/or a sub, I would strongly consider this :http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_cleansweep_pages.php?page_id=94

I had a set of high-end speakers and an amp in my allroad and could never get them to sound that good through the Bose head unit, despite a good line-output converter. Bose really tweaks the equalization to overcompensate for poor quality components, and this needs a product such as above to eliminate this processing.

In my S6 I considered the JL clean sweep with my old Dynaudio speakers and amp, but I decided that I wanted to add navigation, and I ended up going overboard. Oh well, I can't complain about the sound now (its amazing). I did lose my tool kit rack in the process, but the kit itself fits into the passenger side compartment with the Bose sub gone. Incidentally, there is not as much space there as you would think because of the gas filler neck.

https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/129474.phtml</a
