Per Paulroad's posts on this subject elsewhere, I peeled back the liner in the driver's side wheel well of my '03 ar, with the intention of squirting a little air tool oil into the air compressor's air intake. I was expecting to see a smaller diameter, hard plastic line (similar to the lines that go to the air distribution manifold and the air bags) but instead I saw a paper air filter, a plastic mechanism (filter?), and a couple rubber hoses... see photos below.
Dumb question, but where do you inject the oil so as to have it lubricate the air compressor?
Many thanks.

Yikes! Thanks Ex-PzKw Cdr! Glad I didn't squirt any oil into it. So, then where IS the air compressor intake, i.e. the correct place to inject a little oil? I'm assuming it's under the car near the air distribution manifold (with all the colored plastic lines)...?
Anyone know if there are good, detailed directions as to this in a previous thread?

Could inject it there, or after the filter, which is under the car and to the passenger side of the portion of the compressor unit not covered by the skid plate (conveniently). Only need needle nose pliers to take off the hose clamp. Teaspoon of oil didn't make a difference for me and I have ordered a rebuild from Arnott.

Thought I'd pass this along, in case anyone is contemplating lubing the air compressor in your allroad. I emailed Arnott and asked them if, and how best, to lube the air compressor in the ar's suspension system. Here's Arnott's response: "The compressors are meant to run dry, introducing the air tool oil into the system would cause severe damage."
(Though a cynic might point out that Arnott sells re-built compressors and therefore has some interest in not encouraging preventative maintenance, I'm inclined to believe their response). Oh well, seemed like a good idea on the face of it.
