For all you folks worried about "tip lag"...

lag and driving
if you drive normally (as my wife does and i am sure most of your spouse's do) the lag is barely there. but if you drive your car, you get the lag. i notice it and throw folks into thier seats often (with a light appology). it just spools and bam you are crankin along. very frusterating but its a turbo thing coupled with automatic (tip).

No, my reading of the A6 thread...
...was that he surged across one set of lanes, braked in the middle of a boulevard (or the median, or whatever) and then tried to accelerate across the other set of lanes. The brake-throttle thing could have been what caused his problem.
"B-T-L." Good description, based on all the stuff I've read about it. However, in Tip mode, I've never had the problem. Of course, I don't drive with both feet, either. HPH

Maybe he has the early pre-production code...
You know - the stuff the dumb-a$$ reviewers complained about being TOO responsive and caused Audi to screw up the subsequent production models? Just a thought...

Early 01's AR's did not suffer Tip Lag... from what I understood from earlier posts....
This was according to a very reliable source from this Forum a couple of months ago. He quoted the software code and I believe he had that posted on this forum too.

I have experienced BTL in tip mode...
The early allroads were opposite... as in too responsive... after a certain build they had revised code in the ecu to deal with the over responsive nature of the car.
It's not a turbo thing as it's the ECU that requests zero boost under the BTL condition.
As I ranted above we need to be on the same page when it comes to these "labels".
My '02 has minimal TIP lag as I put a GIAC chip in and responds much faster than stock.
My '02 does suffer BTL syndrome every so often and I have learned to detect the symptom early in the throttle on cycle. The work around is lifting your foot to zero throttle and immed. re-apply it to the desired level.
My ar experiences minimal turbo lag because the come on so early... .remember peak torque hits early in the rev range.

A "lag" background primer...
As rr_allroad mentions, it's all by design...<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/29577.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/29577.phtml</a</li></ul>
