it's hard to give up the smoothness of the Tip in everyday driving. My two cents.

. . .the auto is more convenient. It is neither easier nor more better in any other way.
Many on this forum will agree that the tip will reduce the accelerative capabilities of the car, lower the fuel milage and -- this is the controversial point -- reduce control, performance and safety (this last point is due to many folks claims that the tip lag is dangerous -- I personally find it annoying and inexcusable).
There may be good reasons for some folks to acquire this car with the tiptronic -- the "wife factor" being cited with some frequency; the "city driver" being the other.
I know of no one here who has the 6spd that wishes otherwise (perhaps this will flesh them out if they are reading this); yet, there are plenty who have tips wishing they had the manual trans.
Those also are represented who are perfectly happy with their tips.
I would "vote" for the 6spd anytime -- and I have had the last three Audis a '99, '00 & '01 as tips and my current one, an '03, as a stick.
Stick, definitely stick (Rainman [sic]).

100 miles round trip to work. My ride in at 6am is wonderfull with the 6 speed. By 6 PM and the Cross Bronx NONexpressway and the Long Island Parking lot known as the LIE... my left foot has been known to cry uncle.... But when the traffic opens up and I aim for the hole in the traffic... the right foot will always yell lowder than the left..yahoooo!!! 3rd gear go!!!!

I travel from LI (nassau county to northern westchester everday (110 mi round trip).
Even in heavy traffic, I find the stick is no problem.
I did test drove the tip just to compare, you'll find its a no brainer decision (excluding the wife factor).

Stick stick stick stick stick stick
I've had my '04 for 6 weeks, 1800 miles so far. Had to be a stick. No wife issues here, she hates automatics, just like me. In my opinion, an ar with tip is 80% of what the car can be.
