DON'T BUY AN ALLROAD! or buy the allroad on ebay with the front end damage -- that would really help the unsavory appearance of the allroad. Or you could let your kids/niece/nephew paint the doors with their favorite cartoon characters. Or you could take the shiny trim off, run over it several times, then re-attach it. I think that would really improve the overall aesthetics of the vehicle. Now about that interior...

My 03 allroad doesn't have chrome per se. The look is brushed aluminum -- which is a great deal less shiny than either polished aluminum or brilliant chrome. Everthing IMHO that is brightwork on the A/R (or 98% of it) is subtle, when compared to chrome.
To each his own, but one of the great things about the A/R for most of us is that the brightwork is pretty understated and that the interiors are not "over wooded" -- OK carbon fiber might not be too bad either, but the carbon fiber is usually covered over with a glossy clear plastic coating that depending on your interior color can be very shiny looking.
As I said, to each his/her own.
