Default Re: I have the same thing with my '01 4.2...

Are you guys talking about a transmission control module??? I had one replaced a few weeks ago to remedy a jerking, surging, bucking experience at all speeds. Has been happening for about 10.0K on my '01. Problem has worsened. the TCM did not fix the problem. Left the car tonight for possible ignition system breakdown??? don't think dealer has a clue. feels as though it is misfiring. also have had to replace two rims, two tires (not related to rims), now have one coolant fan not working, AND two days ago had 3 warning lights go on simultaneously (ESP, ABS and suspension). Noticed the suspension indicator light showed to be in highest position while car was in lowest. Have 30.0K. Think problems have been way too numerous for a car of this precision and expense. Love the performance, but . . .I'm ready to turn it in. Anyone have any advice??? PLEASE!

Default Update...

Tried shifting tranny into neutral at 60mph. No change. Then tried resetting TCM. No change.

However, this morning the steering wobble seemed less. And shifting the tranny into neutral at approx 60mph seemed to help also.

Will keep monitoring.

Default Re: Update...Part 2

This evening everything was back to wobbling the way is was yesterday evening. Must be a temperature thing as it was cold this morning.

Also, pulled servotronic relay (628) and no difference to wobble. The steering is a LOT heavier for parking, I prefer the relay in!!

Yours in frustration,
Paul.

Default Re: Allroad Vibration Issue (long-ish)

I've been trying to get this same problem resolved for over a year. The TCM was replace on my 2001 AR but it did not cure what one tech is calling "torque chatter" it's more of a pulsating feeling from the tranny at speeds from 30-60mph. It doesn't appear on all ARs and it may be a transmission fluid metering valve issue, or a combo of computer and mechanical issues. It's sure annoying and embarrassing.

Anybody have an answer on this "wobble." I have it, and my dealer is playing it off as a tire problem. I am certain that this will not be the problem, but something much worse that they do not want to deal with. Any comments please. Thanks, Peter
