allroad vs S8

I stopped by the dealership yesterday to pick up a sunscreen, and I saw a new S8-AT5 that had just been unloaded from a truck (yours for only $76K!) The window sticker says that it has a 4.2L V8 that develops 360 hp, and the mileage rating is 15 city/21 highway. Why does this monster get almost the same gas mileage as my allroad with its puny 2.7T engine? Or more to the point, why does the 2.7T only get about 16/20 mpg?

because 4200lbs car being pull/pushed by twin turbo V6 sucks lot of gas! S8 weighs less than allroad, and has better aero. I bet if same 2.7T was stuffed into a S8, it would still get better mileage than allroad.
So far getting about 18mpg from allroad with mixed city/highway driving (6-speed) kinda on the low side, but considering car's weight and brick aero package, not too bad.....
only thing I miss from my previous A4s were 26mpg average with the 1.8TQ

allowing them to turn very low revs at 55 mph while also giving them the potential to generate more HP at high revs. The EPA mileage isn't determined when the car is at the peak of the HP curve.
