Default Allroad Won't Start, Please Help

Hello All, and thanks for any help. My wife's 2001 2.7t Allroad won't start. It had a starting issue the last two weeks, would need to crank it for a couple seconds before it would catch and start up. It would run fine after that. Anyway, this morning it wouldn't start at all, keeps cranking but not catching. I ran VCDS and came up with the the codes posted below, all of which point to o2 sensor or vacuum line issue. I did a visual inspection of the lines and couldn't see anything. Anyway, does anyone have any ideas on the problem, I was thinking it was fuel delivery related (fuel pump). Thanks!

None of those codes would cause a no start situation. My guess is either fuel delivery problem (fuel pump) or more likely the coolant temp sensor(CTS).

Check for fuel and if no fault then change the CTS.

Thanks for the advice, I will check the CTS and I've heard the Camshaft Position Sensor is another possible culprit. Knowing that I had two weeks of longer-to-start crank time leading up to now, does that point to CTS or Fuel delivery? Also, would a dead fuel pump or CTS throw a fault on my VCDS? Thanks.

No, CTS will not show fault codes. You should read its values via measuring blocks in VCDS, but since it's a $20 part, most just replace them and see if the problem is solved.

Cam position sensor will throw a code.

I had the identical problem (minus the Lambda code which have nothing to do with start issue). I had a couple weeks of difficult to start, long cranking time, followed by a total NO START problem. It turned out to be my fuel pump. This is a really simple fix. Just remover the rear seat, open fuel tank with screwdriver tapped light with wooden/plastic hammer. Remover and replace fuel pump. Be sure that when installing new FP, you secure it when twisting it into the plastic mount. They've been known to come loose and "float" about in the tank, causing fuel level indication problems. Also, go with the better quality Bosch, or better FP. I mad the mistake of using a cheap pump from www.rockauto.com, and it went bad after about 15K miles. Rockauto has the OEM for around $250 for the full assembly, including float. Whatever you do, don't forget to install the yellow foam filter. Best of luck to you!

Thanks, I figured it was the fuel pump, but hoping it's the CTS. I'm finishing up installation today (had to track down a retaining clip) from Napa. I'll update on the CTS and start the Fuel Pump install next week if I don't have a fix!

Keep up posted on your progress.

By the way, do you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn on the ignition?

Possibly a CPS(Crank Position Sensor)... AKA a speed sensor.
