I was told by Randy (Dahlback US Dist), that the GIAC tip chip was not compatible with their ECU upgrade (supposedly they didn't "talk" correctly).
Are you running a GIAC tip chip, or is it Dahlback's?
Of GIAC's, have you noticed any issues?
Thanks!
Gavin

Still running the GIAC Tip-chip w/o any problems for about 45k miles now. But I have no idea about the socket difference between GIAC and DB, sorry.
Wait a second....ECU and TIP chip? Totally different ball game I would say, I'm running the Dahlback ECM IC and the GIAC TIP IC. Works just fine....

GIAC's tip-chip is generic enough that it will work with other ECU chips. The tip tranny is still adaptive so the bottom line is that the GIAC just speeds up the decision process!

Funny they told me it was incompatible... Maybe trying to sell me their version?
Thanks!

I think there is some confusion on this point.
TJM stated that we did not know of the compatability of the two programs. In our opinion, it is better to stay with a dedicated set up from one manufacturer rather than mix and match should a problem occur (even at the cost of a sale). This is out of respect for the consumer. If something were incompatible and caused an issue, we would be concerned about where the responsibility to fix the problem lies. GIAC is a great company and neither of us would shy away from any problem I am sure. But if something did happen, you are in a much better position dealing with only one source and removing any variables that could cause headaches down the road.
We were unaware that our software was being used in conjunction with GIAC tip chips - or any other tip chip other than ours. That fact that it is working is terrific news.
Happy Holidays to you all (roaders)!
