Any logic to running anything more than 93 Octane?

Was at Thunderhill this past weekend for the SCCA driving school (yes, I passed. In a Honeybee of all cars), and I wondered if the allroad could handle 100 Octane. I know 91 is the minimum octane to use, but does the allroad have enough compression to run higher octane gas? Will it just run rich if I get a few gallons of 100 octane? I know higher octane gas works a little better at higher elevations, but I am primarily at sea level.

With higher octane you can run higher compression without the risk of premature detonation. Octane reduces the fuel mixture's ability to detonate and run like a diesel.
In theory, higher octane lets you advance the spark further, and this potentially buys you a few HP.

would just have incomplete burning, I would think. Thus, a loss of efficiency and probably power.
Anybody care to counter that idea?

to hi and you will start getting a miss at higher RPM because there is not enough time for all the fuel to burn. Plus at $4+ per gal.

I drive between 5000' and 10,000 feet rountinely-anyone else ever hear of being able to drop to 87 octane? My wallet would appreciate it.
