any tricks to getting the vag-com to link up? trying to do the 402 mod.

Hmmm, I didn't see where to register software, just the $249 for cable & software.
Plus they state 3rd party cables only access certain functions. I did not notice any statement like, "but you can access the other functions by registering the software". Did I miss this somewhere?

I wasn't clear enough.
For scanning and some "advanced functions" like window mod, the free version works fine.
For 402 mod you need to license the software :

But if you have communication issues the license would not help, you have a bad interface, bad configuration or for some reason the interface doesn't like the laptop or OS.
