Default Doubtful, requires new front end (like the 4.2)...allroad is already pretty low...

volume...doubt they'd make 2 versions with 2 different front ends...plus it would make the already obese allroad, morbidly so.
I was hoping for a 4.2 version for '02, then realized it is extremely doubtful (note that the allroad did not receive the front-end makeover that the rest of the A6 lineup did), so an S6 Avant is on its way.
I speculate the allroad will see no major changes until the next generation A6/S6/allroad in '04 or '05 model year. Just speculation, of course. Why mess with a good thing?

Default Here's the text from Road & Track article. It will be interesting to see where the price ends up.

"Audi hopes to find 1200 or more people per year willing to pay in the mid-$50,000 range for the Avant's cargo space and all-wheel drive instead of the BMW M5's prodigious horsepower and manual gearbox."

My guess is that mid-$50,000 range is the base price and with options it will end up about $60k. But what do I know?<ul><li><a href="http://www.roadandtrack.com/RoadAndTrack/first_drives/0901_audi_s6_avant.html">http://www.roadandtrack.com/RoadAndTrack/first_drives/0901_audi_s6_avant.html</a</li></ul>

Default Base price $58,700, plus...

$2100 gas-guzzler, +
$250 alcantara, +
$350 rear air bags, +
~$2000 premium package (can't remember exact number), +
~$1600 Nav, +
~$350 parking assistance, +
~$600-800 luxury tax, +
~$3000-4500 sales tax, +/- other minor things I forgot.

That's where the $67k comes from. This is all confirmed, the pricing sheet is out, I just can't remember all the minute details...they're somewhere on the A6 board.

I suspect a 4.2 allroad would base about $6-8k above the current allroad, based on the difference in price between the base 2.7T and the 4.2, then altering the 2.7T price for the options that are standard on the 4.2.
Yeah, I suspect the allroad would get hit with the gas-guzzler tax since it is so heavy, even though the 4.2 A6 does not have the tax (1 mpg makes a $2100 difference!).

Default i love u guys, but you're dreaming with this V8 bizness. . .

not coming anytime soon, . . .maybe 2004?

in the meantime, pick yourself up the ABT or GIAC chip. i am going with the ABT 6 speed chip with the second ECM. ABT has a great reputation and track record, and rumor has it that they are in the lead to be chosen as Audi's authorized tuner.
sure it's a bit more, but like my dad always said, . . 'son, if you're going to go big --DONT GO SMALL!!!'<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/744128.phtml">all aboard, S4 is leaving the station tomorrow. . .</a></li></ul>

Default how about the 3.7L V8?

Audi offers 3.7L V8 in Europe, wouldn't that engine make more sense in the allroad? 260HP, but not turbo charged! with out having to pay for 2 turbos, figure that engine would actually be cheaper to manufacture? more HP, more torque, granted at higher rpm range.

Then again, I love the 2.7T in my ar......
