While the car was in for the alignment (the rears were seriously out of alignment), mechanic noted that the outer CV boots were torn and needed replacing.

I know some folks have done the job themselves. Anyone actually do a write up? Pics? Mechanic's quick estimate was about $500 in labor to replace.

I debated on going the Raxles route, but I've already got two boot kits I bought not too long ago when I knew the boots were starting to crack.

on removing the pinch bolt. The pinch bolt is the big variable doing this job. If the bolt if frozen plan on spending some time an energy.

I just don't really have time or expertise to do the authorship/publishing of such a doc... and the only machine I have the utilities to do this with is my work machine.
