anybody ever have their wheels highly polished -- not chromed -- but polished?

I'm getting ready to put my summer wheels on and they have a flat finish (18 inch oem hollow spokes). My RS6 reps have a more polished finish that is close to the finish of the aluminum rocker panels. I think the 18 inchers would look mucho mejor that way. So anybody ever do that?

the RS6 reps have a high gloss finish with a brilliant silver paint underneith. You would be better off having them re-painted by a wheel repair place...they can change the finish from the dull aluminum finish to the brilliant high gloss finish you are looking for
As for polishing....with the nature of the material, they will end up looking more chrome than anything. I have seen this done on a set of A6 4.2 Pie Plate rims...they were hidious. There was some pitting and overall, the person who did this has massive up-keep issues. If he had clear coated them after polishing them, it would have been better.
I say, find the finish you want, and have them re-painted and clear coated. Usually runs about $100 per rim if no repair is needed.

would never do it again for a street car. Way too much work to keep them shiny.
The RS6 Reps (Hartmann in my case as you know) are a more metallic look. My local Wheels America can refinish wheels with a Hyper Silver finish much like the wheels on the Infiniti G35 Coupe with the 6 spd and Brembo brakes. I saw several wheels they'd done recently and it is definitely very "polished" like. Even the paint work they did on my BBS wheels was more shiny than the original finish.
Find a local shop to repaint the wheels to look like your RS6 reps. Most good body shops will do for under $100 each, though I paid 125 but that included straightening 2 of them and powder coating the clear topcoat.
