Just got the car back from the dealer. After lots of investigation and 1.5hrs shop rate, it turns out there is a 40 amp fuse under the hood behind a relay box The fuse protects the compressor motor. It took a few calls with Audi dealer tech support for the mechanic to find the fuse. Apparently when the old compressor prssure switch failed, and the pump ran without kicking off due to over temp, the fuse blew???
Everything is working well now. Time for a new Audi. I think a 2007 A6 Avant with 3.2L and Premium package.

Does anyone know the thread size/pitch for the connections to the valve body? I'm buying a allroad which I believe has a bad compressor and I need to bypass the compressor and inflate the bags with a small portable compressor.
thanks

Why dont you call Arnott and order the mercedes compressor and overnight it? I think arS6 over at QW can help though. See his thread here:

Thanks. I haven't diagnosed the problem yet, I'm just suspecting it's the air compressor, and most likely due to a leak somewhere else in the system. I want to pick the car up this weekend and want to just plug my compressor into the cigarette lighter, connect to the inlet fitting on the valve block and inflate all the bags. Then I can cycle the compressor on/off throughout the drive home when/if the bags start to deflate. Might have to slime them. Audi has the fittings, but they are like $60 for two which is ridiculous. I may just disconnect the line from the compressor, slide a larger ID tube over the end and triple clamp it.

Thanks for this info, I want to see if this 40Amp fuse is the cause for my problem, but I am having tough time finding it, can you tell me more in detail where it is .....

To provide vaualbe info to this thread, I thought I would post this link from Blauparts, to help with troublehooting suspension issues. It has a lot of important details and pictures to help any DIY'ers sort out their issues.
