Anybody tried to lower the AR by removing subframe spacers?

In reading the Allroad overview doc (part of self-study series), I came across a part that says the Allroad has 2.5 cm spacers installed between the subframe and the body.
For those who are looking to lower the AR while not riding on bump stops (a la 402 mod), would it be possible to simply remove the spacers from the subframe?
This way, it's equivalent to 402-ing your ride by 25mm and still retaining stock level 1 spring travel. Or 402 another 10-20mm for a slammed look if that's what you want.
Your reference, just FYI, would no longer be 402 but 377mm.

I'm pretty sure that won't work. The spring/shock combo is what determines your ride height since the top of shock mounts to the car body. Removing the spacers while leaving the spring/shock the same length just changes the angles of the suspension components (makes them worse, which is why the spacers were added in the first place). If you shortened the shock, then it would work, but the suspension geometry would likely be off because the allroad lower control arm length was tweaked to work with the spacers.
