Dealer in Chicago told me this would replace the allroad. He also told me that the 03 allroad would only come with the V8 as emissions issues with the 2.7T were making that engine unviable for worldwide use. If that's the case...

Default My worst nightmares...

coming true. If they're going to target the same market as the Mercedes GST they'd better do a complete revamp to the design of that POS called the Magellan. That is the ugliest thing to come out of VW/Audi in quite some time.

Default How stupid...just as the allroad gains popularity AoA will drop it to market an SUV.

I can't tell you the number of SUV drivers that see my allroad and remark how nice it is. Most tell me they are sick of their poor handling SUVs and want to go back to driving a car, preferably a wagon for the added space.

If they take away my beloved allroad and offer this in exchange, I'm going back to Subaru and the Outback, this is ridiculous!!

If '03 is V8 only, that means the 6-speed is probably gone too. But if you can get a V8 stick, wow!

Default Y'all shouldn't worry...

While we find the allroad to be VERY butch yet sophisticated, the entire A6 line is being "replaced" for 2005.

There will be a completely redesigned A6 saloon, avant and "allroad". Audi hasn't decided if it will use the Magellan as a replacement for the allroad or market it as it's separate "SUV" to fill the (present) vacancy in the Audi line up.

You say, "But the allroad IS Audi's SUV!" Indeed, however it is not seen as such in the lucrative U.S. market. Hence Audi, like every other suckered Euro carmaker, is succumbing to the bizarre American obsession with SUV's...

And even if the "Magellan" is the allroad replacement, remember this is simply the "concept" vehicle. We're sure Audi will take into account it's previous allroaders when bringing it to production. And don't forget an A4 Avant allroad is in the works as well as an A3 allroad - you may find yourselves being drawn to several Audis, as we are!....
