Default Auto 3-blink turn signal?

I've always loved in my prior Audi's the "lane change" function of the turn signal arm; just bump the arm up or down and it automatically issues three successive blinks signaling the lane change. The '05 Allroad I just bought doesn't have this. Is it a VAG-COM fix? Don't have VAG-COM yet, but another reason to justify the expense.

My new MINI Cooper has this feature (owner programmable no less) and I'd also like to know if my '04 Allroad can do this with the appropriate command - I've not seen any mention of it in the owner's manual tho....

As far as I know that feature is built into the turn signal relay. Unfortunately the allroad uses the failure prone turn/hazard combo relay which is different, otherwise you could get the 3 blink relay and be happy.

"Failure prone"?

What should I expect?

I just got back from Germany and the car I rented had the 3 flash feature. It was very cool. Driving on the Autobahn was freaking awesome. One day it was pouring rain and the only cars passing me were Audi and BMW with AWD.

Your blinkers will start acting erratically or stop working all together.

I experienced the turn signal failure. $65 on ebay versus $85 +tax at the dealer. It was simple to replace. Just keep in mind that it will happen. I'm finding that at 88k miles, a lot of little things are failing.

My list so far: turn signal switch, all 4 O2 sensors, water temp sensor, both egt sensors, coolant expansion tank, suspension compressor, tune up...I guess not all are small, but hey, I have no car payment and my insurance is $350 for 6 months of liability!

Is your coolant expansion tank cracking? Tons of tiny fissures?

Default I know this bread is about to turn signal but I noticed the expansion tank mentioned.

I have an 02 A6 with support .2 V8 in it and it cost me $100 more than it cost for any other expansion tank in 02 or any Audi and the only difference was where the inlet tube ran into the tank how ridiculous is that is that what I have to expect with all my 4.2 Parts on this?
