Default I have to say that they are also useful in getting tailgaters to back off

that's only when there isn't room to exit warp 2 off the front. If you what to see ugly (required) rear fogs, see the pic in my post. (plasic car) On my Z06 I was required to install one, but it is dead center between the exhaust. (nice little Hella unit) Not that it matters.
