Big thanks to PWDRSKR for his 2nd hand RNSE unit at a good price and TeddyBGame for his plug and play harness (highly recommended).
The entire install really only took about 1 hr, but I entered the wrong security code and had to wait another hour for the unit to reset. The custom harness from Ted made the install super simple. Complete install procedures can be found on navplus.us. I just need to VAG the RNSE for some extra features.
The start of it all on a messy garage bench. All you need is your laptop for the instructions and a beer in hand.

Out comes the radio

Believe it or not, the hardest part was tapping into the GALA (speed) wire of the cluster. Ted's harness came with a wire tap that made the install a breeze.

I hid the gala and gps cables behind the metal brackets and zip tied all the cables together. The GPS attenna was placed in the cubby hole with a double sided 3M pad. I was a bit worried about placing the GPS under the dash, but the signal strength was still strong and I even picked up all sats in my garage.

The final product in a dirty ar
I might try to source a new hvac faceplate to perfectly match the RNSE, but I can live with the slight difference.

I am used to itunes for my ipod (which is what all of my digital music is in) I always have a hard time reconfiguring music to mp3 so I can load up the 2 SD cards. I know it is a small complaint by sometimes I need to complain about something.
Congrats. Did you go the Bluetooth route?

over $2600, for the unit alone. You'd still have to source the antenna and wiring harness, which is another $200-ish.

...see thread in nav forum. You want to tap #31 behind the cluster....and NOT #3.
