Default I have crossroad feet and LB50 bars with two sidearms for the bikes.

I considered 58" bars as the fairing mounts, sidearms etc were are tight fit w/ two bikes but didn't want them hanging out off of the side of the car. I have since pulled the fairing off so I can still use the sunroof. I considered moving the rack backward so the fairing was behind the sunroof, but the adamant warnings in the owner's manual convinced me otherwise. With two $1000 bikes, $500 in rack, and the cost of ripping off the factory rails I didn't want a $5000 mistake for convenience.

For LONG highway runs I might put the fairing back on, but for the most part I think it is unnecessary.

rackattack.com is pretty good on prices, but I waited for an REI sale w/ 20% off all.

Agreed. The Thule Aero bars are the way to go.

Thule 450 footpack, LB 50 bars. I went for a longer set of bars as I mounted my bike rails outboard of the feet which allows an Thule Atlantis 1800 to sit down the middle. It isn't a particularly pretty bar set up but it allows me to carry a lot.

It allows me to take to DH bikes, wife, sprog and dog plus all our camping gear up to northern AZ for some weekend fun.

This is a view with the small bikes on.

Default Been partial to yak bars/towers, w offset Thule box, see sig

= less leaning on dirty car to get stuff
this year, have the box on the drivers side and 2 bike trays on the opposing side

found i was always running arround to the other side to get the stuff out anyways for ppl

i had really long bars, but i cut them down as close as possible for obvious reasons

may look into aero bars, makes sense, could in increase gas mi?
