to fit more bikes on. I would idealy like 4 to fit. I have 50" Thule setup with 2 bike carriers but would like option to throw a few more up there. The 65" will only protrude about 7" on each side while the 78" would be 14" each side. I could cut them I guess but has anyone found the wider bars to be OK.
TIA, Bob

i had 65" i think...
off my old jeep grand cherokee. i custum cut them down so that i mount my bike trays on the outside with minimal overhang. this allows me to run my roof box or two more bike with no problem.
it does whistle a little

Slightly wider bars here with
4 bikes (mtb) all mounted facing forward. I actually have 3 load bars with the longest in the front and rear and a third mounted just behind the front and cut down to just fit the span of the audi roof rails...this allows the middle two bikes to face forward and just behind the front outside mounted bikes...I can also carry the four front wheels all on the rear load bars as my bike mounts are fork mount style...
Top view of the car with the bikes Handle bars is like this: -_ _- if that makes sense.
Either way, four bikes is a piece of cake, you should be able to do five staggard front to back with just a bit longer bars.
