The Bilstein Clunk
#61

I had a set of Gen II springs installed front and rear along with Bilstein shocks from Arnott. I do like the stiffer ride, but the from shocks began to clunk. Arnott warranties them immediately. When they arrived and my Indy went to install them, something in the front air springs had deformed and wouldn't let them hold air any more after reassembly. Arnott warranties the air springs too, after consulting directly with my Indy. I was very impressed with the speed and courtesy that Arnott demonstrated.
Now the new Bilsteins are in, along with the new front air springs, and the clunk has returned. I'm considering OEM shocks but my concern now is his well the stock damping is going to handle the stiffer Gen II springs.
We'll see. The car is in the shop today getting valve cover gaskets, cam plugs, timing belt, water pump, thermostat and so on so I asked them to replace the engine mount bushings while they're in there in the event that they are somehow contributing to the car clunking over bumps.
Time will tell...

You should try installing OEM shock mount, not the one that Arnott supplies.
