Default I have "connections".....

Well, Actually....

They aren't sold in the U.S. and U.S. Audi dealers can't get them since the part does not come up on their database.

I purchased the number-plate surround (as it is called in Europe) when I was in Germany. I purchased one for my A6 (pictured above) and one for the allroad... I must admit it looks WAY cool in person... I am stopped on a regular basis and asked questions... I will try to post some better photos in the near future...

Note: The German plate on my A6 is my ACTUAL CA lic. plate number. I ordered the plate this way so if a clever cop called it in he/she would discover it is a valid ID - Albeit it is still "illegal"... Only pulled over twice so far - both times I was let go!... I keep telling myself it was because I'm CUTE! 8-)

Do you still have the part number? I would enjoy being the first in Houston to have the original "number plate surround".

Owned black or dark cars all my life, and my wife's car is a Black BMW 540ia sport. Took the plunge and bought a silver allroad and love it, especially the color since I live hear in mass as well. At first I thought I made a mistake, but now the color has grown on me and I really like it. I am a nut about keeping my cars clean (heated garage, hot/cold purified water to wash and only use zymol) but it is getting to be too much to have two dark cars and trying to keep them clean. Silver stays clean for a lot longer than black. I also had a black allroad loaner for the last two weeks and I had to wash it 4 times jsut to keep it clean(went off road ). It also seemed a lot hotter than mine on these days when the sun was out and the temps were in the 90s. You may want to try wagner motors in boylston. The black allroad I drove had everything you are looking for, they have silver as well + good to deal with.

I will look through my paper work and see if I still have it somewhere...

I can tell you this however - the part number would not be valid at a U.S. dealer. I am (almost) certain you would have to contact an overseas Audi dealer to obtain this part...

The (part) number will not show on their computers since they only have access to North American spec vehicles...

Click "allroadguy" to send me a direct mail and then we can correspond directly... 8-)

Default Scanning can be a pain in the ***, depending on your scanner software, but...

I imagine you have choice of dpi to scan at. Sometimes it is in the "advanced" scan mode where you can set it manually. If you scan at 900-1200 dpi, you can then resave it later using MS Photoeditor or any version of Photoshop, or even your scanner software and resize it to 640 Horizontal and it will automatically figure out the vertical.
Or if you upload the full 900 dpi version into AW picture poster, it will convert it automatically to 640 max (either horizontal or vertical, whichever is larger).
The reason I wouldn't scan it more detailed (1200-2400 dpi) is that the file is then enormous 20-30 MB and would take a day and a half to upload into AW.
Or you could set the scanner at 600-800 also, but I found with my own scanner, when I set it that low, the picture that resulted sucked, but that may be a problem unique to me.
I solved this problem of scanning, though, by buying an excellent 3.1MP Canon Powershot G1 with simple interfacing with the computer and learning the basics (very basic) of Photoshop and MS Photoeditor (really easy) to resize images. No more scanning!!!
You can't expand those pics, because they would look like crap...all pixel-ly, but you could re-scan the photo or negative at a higher resolution.
Good luck and nice car Maybe I'll see it around someday, I'm in the north bay area and your's is pretty unique so I should recognize it.

Funny, I just did both of those drives. Work was slow on Wednesday, so I took a long lunch and drove down 280 to Half Moon Bay and took Hwy 1, back up.

Yesterday, I removed the 605 relay and tested it out driving up to Twin Peaks and down Upper Market.

Loads of fun!
