Default Brake warning light: what are all the causes?

I've topped off the fluid - still on.

I checked all the pads - tons of pad left in every location.

What else triggers that warning in the MFD, the yellow circle w/ a broken part-circle on the left and right?

TIA.

Default Could be a loose brake pad connector. You may want to see if you can find someone ...

... close by, and ask if they'll VAG the car and let you know what DTCs[1] have been logged

Default Front brake pads have the sensors...

its a thin filament wire that as the pad wears, it will break the connection.

Even though you see "tons of pad" they can be down to the sensor wire and then its gone.

You should check the plugs that connect to the front pads. One could be loose, or have a broken wire.

Or you could need new front pads.

Default Huh. After unplugging the VAG-COM to give up and check the wires,

the warning is gone. Hope for the best - next thing has to be a bad connection in the wear sensor circuit, I think.

Default Uhm if you plug in your VAGCOM and login to the ABS, the light will come on as long as you are

connected to that controller. It also comes on if there is a fault in the ABS or the ESP. It also comes if the Suspension experiences certain faults, and it also comes on if the brake or clutch switch go bad or become intermittant.

Default Frick - it came back.

Check the sensor connections next, I guess.
