about 10-15 minutes of starting my car, I smell something Like a burning clucth; but my car is automatic. anyways, it happen last week, but the smell wasn't that strong and it kind of went away by its self. But now, the smell is stronger and even inside the cockpit. I'm trying to pin point were the smells comes from but, nothing soo far. I'm about 60k on miles and out of warranty. Any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks.

engine work (maybe even the timing belt, I don't want to jinx it but my indy has it appart is going to try to make a case for replacing it now as it is covered if it breaks and if it breaks it will be MUCH worse) under extended warranty.
Mine smelled like that before all of this and it was intermittant...have a good indy put dye in to see if your engine is leaking oil, just a thought

and the associated burning oil smell which I need to have taken care of soon.
doesn't smell much like a clutch though. not sure what else would provide such a smell, clutch smell is pretty unique.

Park your car on a downhill slope, start it up, open the hood and wait for the exhaust header to heat up. If it's the cam seals, you'll hear and smell the oil burning off the headers. Both of mine went out recently.

Search around and you'll find a couple of writeups for changing the seal. It's not like a gasket but kind of a thick half-moon. I imagine the leaky seal will continue to shrink, so do it as soon your wallet can handle the labor cost. And of course make sure that this is the problem, not a turbo seal or something else.. I don't know the cost, sorry.

entire thing, rather than just repairing the adjuster seals themselves. All new gaskets all around for cams, adjusters, the whole shot. Costly. Anyone else confirm this?

Just got a call from the dealer, and he sais that it's the cam adjuster seals. Cost: $1,700. In addition, there are some other seals that needed to be replace around the fuel tank I beleive and radiators. Cost $500. To top it all, I still need to do a major sevice that will cost around $700. Looks like a $3,000 job. Audi sure knows why they guarantee and do services free of charge up to 50,000miles. Once you pass that mark, it's time for us to drop our pants and bend over.
