Plan on doing timing belt replacement this weekend and trying to save some $ by making my own cam lock bar and lock pin. Does anyone have one who can provide me the basic dimensions? I can drill the indexing and mounting holes for the cam lock bar but wanted to know the overall length, offset, and center section length so I can make a blank prior to starting. I assume 3" width, 3/16" thickness, and 48" long stock to start. It seems to me that the crank lock pin can be some dowel stock. Any concerns out there? Thanks in advance.

Overall length - 28 1/4"
Step height - 2 1/2"
Length of step - 19 1/2"
Hole to hole (from cam gears) - 24 1/4"
Hole diameter - 3/4"
The cam gear holes can be oversized to make up any variation you have on the hole to hole length. The can gear bolt is only 3/8 to maybe 1/2 in diameter with a 1.25 to 1.5" size washer.
There are also two holes flanking the center hole on the cam sprocket. The orientation of these is clear once you get the engine at TDC. I would take the time to get everything in place, mark where these two holes are located and drill. Use these extra holes to also bolt the bar into place to prevent cam rotation.
You can borrow my bar, just as long as you return it to I can loan it out to others. Also, I don't know if you saw RMcQ's "how to" for TB replacement, it was very helpfull.
