Has anyone been able to find out which cell phones are going to be compatible with the integrated car kit that was shown in the 2002 Accessory Guide? If so, what about price? I'm referring to the kit that actually integrates causing the radio to mute, etc.

In the 2002 Accessory guide there were 2 car kits. One appeared to be a holder for cell phone and speakerphone. This one is currently available at the dealerships for around $80. The other was described as a Cell Phone Adapter Kit for integration with the audio system of the car. I phoned Audi boutique at 877-742-2834 and was placed on a list to receive information on the kit when it becomes available. I wanted to know what cell phones were compatible, when available, and how much.

aoa has been promising this adaptor kit for ages and it never materializes. everyone wants to be able to integrate a cell phone into the allroad system but i dont think it will actually happen. it would be nice but dont hold your breath.

The "Audi Digital Phone" appears to be the same one that is in the M-B cars. It is the Motorola Timeport that replaced the StarTac. Or at lease that is how my cousin in the fatherland describes it. I beleive the same is true for the phone adapter. The Timeport is anywhere from $100- $400 depending on which model it is.

AoA said that the car kit that integrates with the audio system should be at the dealers during March. They said that the following information was subject to change: There will be 2 car kits. One will be for the Audi provided Motorola phone and the other would be compatible with the Nokia 51XX, 61XX, and 71XX cell phones. They did not provide any information on price.

Living in NY, I have to use a hands-free phone in my car. Getting a separate phone (and phone number) for the phone in my car seems absurd but I would like to just plug in my current Motorola StarTAC phone when I am driving. It sounds like that is what the Nokia kit will permit. Is that also true of the Motorola kit? Or will that kit require the purchase of an actual phone as well?

but, they stressed the need to check with the dealer after the arrival of the kits as there might be some changes.
