cat efficiency low
I thought I had this problem beat , had P0421 code come up weekly for months , haven't had check engine light on or any codes for 13 weeks, yesterday it came back, with P1457,exh temp sensor 2 op. circ. I plugged in a scanner, KOEO, monitor exh temp, and four o2 sensors . Start engine, all at .43 volts, after aux air pump had switched off,o2 sensor bank one stays at around .48v,o2 sensor 1,bank 2 switching .09v to .75v.Both rear sensors seem to stay around .43v moving slowly around that point. Only ran engine for about 3 mins.Does this look like an o2 sensor failure? Car starts and runs mint, loads of power etc. I hate check engine lights on, anybody got any ideas...

That's an EGT code.
Pricey Audi All Road 2.7T Exhaust Emissions EGT Sensor - 078998124B - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors (EGT) - Set Of Two - ES#284160
I would search around the forums, though before throwing expensive parts at the car

found the passenger side flex pipe leaking, first time I heard it this last weekend,on inspection it was shot thru,so is the drivers side, tho it doesn't make a noise yet, must be the stainless wrap..gonna get them changed and will see what happens

A leaky flex pipe will cause this code, it doesn't take much of a leak either. I recently replaced mine to address this same problem, although they were completely broken.

the exhaust temp sensor often fails because the soldering inside the box is bad. Relatively easy fix if that's the case. I repaired mine on the car and it took about 15 minutes, most of it spent clearing away the anti-moisture gel.

thanks for that, will check out the electrics soon, had egt sensor op circ codes for months, they clear straight away and don't come back for weeks/months...a dry joint will do that...
