this is the system we should have had in the first place!

He got it from Germany for 900euros instead of the $$$2700 it costs here from an aftermarket place.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4gen2/msgs/317921.phtml</a

Default If it fits and work, I buy

If it works for the allroad, I would be the next buyer.

Default It will work....

FM is okay but AM channel spacing is different in europe so no proper AM in the US (not that AM in our cars works well anyway). You would need the CD changer in the rear if you want to play CD's as the NAV+ only plays the NAVIGATION cd's.

If you don't have NAV now you would need the NAV capable antenna as well.

Default Re: If it fits and work, I buy

I have the US Audi nav lite and I use it regularly-- it amazes me that you can buy one AFTERWARDS but you can't buy one ready to rock and roll right from your local Audi dealer.

I heard that next year's Audis will have the nav plus, starting with the new A8. It blows my mind that you can buy a sub $20,000 Pontiac (Vibe?) with full screen nav, but not any Audi at any price imported in the US can have it!

I would love to have this unit, love to have Audi nav map on a DVD, etc. But, already having the nav-lite on my 7 month old 03 allroad on a 36 month lease -- well, I'll manage without.

Damn, that looks cool.

Default interesting....

For a few hundred smackers then, I could have a very nice nav system!

I haven't played around with Euro band radios for sometime now. Just how different is the AM? I seem to recall that their dial doesn't cover our entire spectrum. Or will AM just not work at all?

Default Euro AM has different channel spacing than US.

Old style **** tuning AM radios do not have a problem tuning in but newer ones with auto seek functions do to the different channel spacings.

Default If you just need a navigation system,

Garmin makes a dash top (Street pilot) that sells for $800, requires no installation so is removable, and requires no reburning of disks.

Otherwise, this is a much better looking unit that can do more than get you from A to B.

Default I have the Garmin Streetpilot :-)

The only drawback to it is it's a pain to enter addresses. It seems to take me 5-10 min each time I enter a new destination!

Default Yes, it will word (more).....

Make sure that you get the proper model number as each of the Audi models need a different faceplate. A6 model units seem to be the most plentiful on ebay.de for some reason.

Even though the AM spacing is different, I have no problem with reception on any station even if it's a few clicks off.

Maps are really complete, but make sure you get the 2002 edition - it's lots better than the 2001 version.

I did mine last year and love it. If anyone has questions let me know.

AM frequencies in Europe are spaced 9Khz apart, compared to 10Khz in North America.
