I bought a MTM chipped ECU and when I put it in car...the car starts and shuts off right away. I assume this is because the MTM Chipped ECU isn't the original ECU and wont work with my car/keys right???? Tell me so!
So can I remove the MTM chip (socket type) from the ECU and have someone solder it in my original ECU (with a new socket)?
Does anyone know of anyone who can solder chips in and out of ECU in NYC area?
TIA

The ECU is the entire box. This box is coded via the immobilizer circutry to the individual car. The chip within the ecu has nothing to do with this.
The simple way to solve you problem is to reinstall the stock ECU in the car and make sure all is working.
Then go to an area tuner who installes soldered in chips and have the EPROM/Chip removed from the stock ECU and swapped with the MTM ECU.
However you must insure that both ECU's came from the same type of car, and tranny combination.

I tried most of the local tuners, no one can remove the chip and make it work on another ECU.
I had no choice but to send it to Joe Hoppen Motorsport. He said the chip has the car's vin# on it as well and it will have to recode it for my car.
