Clip-on shift knob to screw-on knob question

Clip-on shift **** to screw-on **** question
Now that I am soon to install BG AR's Tanoga SS kit (he was very helpful BTW), I realize that I will have to change the shift **** to a screw-on type. I know some of you have re-used the stock clip-on **** but I really want to change the **** to leather since I don't like how cold / hot the wood **** gets so I want to purchase a new ****.
My question is what do I do about attaching the shifter boot to the shifter shaft with a screw-on ****? The clip-on **** has the boot attachment built into the **** but now that I'm changing the ****, I will lose that feature. Does the RS4 air **** have a provision for attaching the boot to the bottom of the **** or do I have to cobble together some kind of stop to affix to the shaft so that when I screw the new **** it 'sandwiches' the boot material and anchors it? Or shold I consider another type of shift ****? Suggestions?

I would assume you should be able to attach it the way the stock shift **** is, but maybe someone,
who's actually using a screw-on shift **** might want to chime in to confirm.

Re: ex-PzKW Kommandant put a screw on **** on his tanoga, think he cut **** off and used clamp
That is what I was thinking too, but then you are relying on a clamp to keep the boot from sliding down the shaft. I really don't want to have to feel a hose clamp under the boot either. Anybody have any other ideas or perhaps a clever way to make a better clamp? I was thinking of turning down a piece of aluminium to the right diameter, boring a hole in the middle to accept the shaft and running 3 grub screws...
