Just wondering if anyone has tried the Continental DWS on their allroad. Need new tires and won't purchase the Perellis again( although I've gotten about 30,000 miles out of the last 2 sets).

I just put a set on our Allroad and we really like them, we've only got about 5K on them so far, so I can't speak to the wear yet, but the last two sets of tires only lasted 18-20K......
Smooth, quiet but they need to be rotated about every 5K to get good wear out of them.

Exactly...objectively great tires in my opinion but how they wear on a vehicle that is notorious for eating up tires ridiculously fast is what I'd be curious about. I have Goodyear TripleTreds on a Subaru and they have been great tires to run all year round, even in snow and based on how they've worn so far I would assume they'll be good for at least 50-60k miles, but who knows they might only last half that time (or worse) on the Audi unfortunately.

I have them in the 245/45-18 size and wouldn't really recommend them. They do have really good grip in dry and wet; I ran them this past winter too but we never really had any snow to test them in. They are also quiet and smooth. My biggest issue with them is the sidewalls are too soft. They are not confidence inspiring when pushed in turns and feel like they are rolling over too much in cornering, which causes the edges of the tread to wear quickly. Also they only lasted about 22k miles. I still have them on but there is only 3/32 tread remaining, so they will need to be replaced soon. I do think that getting a size with an XL rated sidewall instead of the standard one that I have might address the stiffness issue, but the size I wanted with that rating would not fit properly on my OEM 18" rims.

I just got Kuhmo Ecsta 4x in 245 45 18 100W XL. Not too shabby for $135 a piece at Discount Tire.
I had Dunlop Sport SP 9000 96Y summer only. The new tires have a slightly harder ride and are all seasons. They are quiet and corner well. So far no real complaints.

I had them on an '09 A4 Avant (245/45 x 18). First winter snow traction was fantastic but the next winter (around 15,000 miles?) the snow traction seemed noticeably weaker. They were fine for summer/dry/rain stuff.
Considering the price, I'd get them again.

Thanks everyone. I went to Discount Tire today for a rotate and balance. Stock Pirellis wouldn't make it to winter. With the pro-rated mileage warranty I got $70 back for each tire if I bought the Perelli allroads again. I went ahead with the deal because it brought the price down to $50 each for a brand new tire. Hope to get the same or better mileage out of them since these are an up-dated design than the ones before, and new inner and outer tie-rods and alignment.
I now plan on buying snow tires this season since live in Salt Lake. The Pirellis are NOT very good in the snow! Especially in their second season and beyond. Any thoughts on Michelin X-Ice Xi2 snows?

Awesome deal, Now with regards to the Winters, I've never owned a set but I can say that I am a big fan/owner of Blizzak's and that is all I use on my Audi vehicles..

I am currently running DWS's but in a much beefier size (275/40/18).
They hold like glue and seem to withstand the beating I give them.
Still a decently soft ride, but definitely different than my 235/55/17 Nokian Hakka R's.
I've always wanted a set of P6's on twin spokes just to match the car. haha
