Default coolant reservoir replacement

I picked up a coolat reservoir to replace the aging, cracked, and leaking one in my 2001 83k Allroad. I searched the forums for a DIY, but I found nothing. It looks simple enough (2 hoses, 2 plugs, and 3 screws.) I am wondering if I need to do this in any particular order to avoid air in the system.

Thanks,
Joe

you should be alright.....did mine a few weeks ago, just a messy job with coolant going everywhere.......my advice just do it quick and clean up the mess afterwards.....getting the coolant out of the tank was the b*tch

Thanks. I'm thinking i might syphon as much out as i can with turkey baster. Then proceed with the removal of the old tank.

Thanks,
Joe

with the screws out, electrical connector off, and bleeder line off, I tried to pour as much as possible out the bleeder line hole.
I used a new bottle for an A4($24), which was only just slightly different where the drain tube comes out. I had to drill it out one or two sizes to get the fitting in. I beleive it goes straight down on the A4, but the fitting makes it turn 90 deg first on the allroad/A6.
