Default Corrosion on aluminum accents at bottom of doors

While handwashing my'03 6 Speed yesterday, I noticed the right front aluminum strip had a bit of corrosion on it. Almost looked like rust spots forming. Any suggestions on how to safely clean this off? Also, I noticed the leading edge of the aluminum strip on both rear doors have what appears to be some chipping of the aluminum looking to be little white spots on it. Any suggestions how to address this? Thanks!

After 2 winters, all of mine are pitted. I'm going to order the black plastic S6 sill molding.

Default This makes a good case for mud flaps. It is dirt and gravel not rust. Mud flaps are on my list!

Al does not rust!

Default $200 from Clair parts; good investment. Many allroaders are doing this. You can sell your....

allroad trim to anyone on the A6 forum.

Good luck!!

No, it really is rust. I'm thinking they are polished steel, not aluminum.

Default yup, that's my plan as well. The aluminum trim "takes over" the look

of the allroad - especially on a brilliant black.

Add some road salt and you too can have rust spots.
