Default Re: That's right...

I know the residuals on the Touareg are 56%, 54%, 52% and 49% for a 36, 39, 42, and 48 month lease. What are they for the Allroad?

Truth be told, I'm leaning much more toward the AR for the same reasons you listed. I just would like to flesh out my cost comparison spreadsheet to make my decision more justifiable to the wife.

Default Can't say the Touareg isn't luxurious...

It's interiour is quite nice. But I would presume the allroad handles (on road) much better. It's significantly lighter/lower.

Default Well, given the two interiors which one would you rather sit your *** down in every day?

I'm not saying it's not nice (nice for a VW that is) , but theT-reg has signif. more plastic than AR.

Default Residuals for Aug are 36-39 month (12K), 54%, (15k), 52%..

Don't know about 48 mo. My mileage averages around 1200/mo. I'd be over 50k in my 41st. month and the warranty would run out before lease was up, major leasing no-no. I went with 39 mo./15K which (at end of lease) leaves me at roughly 47K and happy.

I should have said that those residuals for the T-reg are for 15k/year. +2% if only 12k/year.

Default Toss-up right now.

They have about the same amount of wood, and leather, but the controls and some amenities seem nicer in the Touareg. Actually now that I think of it, the T-reg has more wood, and the vavona that comes with the teak leather is much nicer than the walnut that is the only choice in the Allroad. You can only get the memory steering column in the 4.2 AR, while this is available for both the V6 and the V8 on the Touareg. Also the seats in the Touareg are 12 way adjustable compared to 8 way in the AR.

I guess I'd rather sit my *** down in a Touareg every day, but the Allroad is more economically attractive right now. Also the handling and seat-of-the-pants feel is better in the Allroad, which is a big reason I'm now on this board.

The way I see it, someone goofed at VW and stuck the wrong emblem on the Touareg. It won't matter though when the Pike's Peak comes out, that should be fixed.

Default Tell your wife that, A. the AR won't look like every other SUV on the street, B. She wont need a

ladder to get into it. C. She will easily find it in a parking lot, and D. She looks better in the AR than the T-reg. And E. only if it really applys , 'This is one fast wagon'. (as Tire Rack states 'fast and aggressive'. My wife doesn't drive so I only got to D.

Default Let your heart be your guide...

Len,

I sat in every SUV on the market and tried to justify buying one but couldn't. Lexus 330, MB, Infiniti FX 35, you name it. I was looking for utility and fun, and I needed it in one package. After driving a Ford 350 long-wheel-base van for 3 years (some years back) as my everyday driver, I just can't see myself sitting way up high again, in some huge vehicle, taking up big space like an Expedition or Excursion, and sipping a ton of gas just to sit in traffic. There's no fun factor for me here. A car should not be the size of a small third world country, it should handle well, and you should get a sense of driver satisfaction every time you take for a ride, that translates to FUN! Hey, I even enjoy going to the cleaners in the AR. It's just a ball to drive (and I thought my Saab Aero was fun). At this point you've done the homework, and you've narrowed it down to two cars, and that's good.
Now I think you need to ask youself this question; Which vehicle (after you've gotten the basics out of the way) are you going to enjoy driving more? When you've had a horrible day, which car will help you 'air out' on the way home from work?
Len, you can only be analytical up to a point. After that, your heart will have to take over...
