Ok...how long should the CV boots last? I have a 2003 with 54k on it. Very good shape overall, but the dealer says the CV boots "look bad enough to replace". My last car has 200k on it and the boots are just fine! The dealer also indicated several other items that I know are not an issue, so just wondering if they are blowing smoke or not.

Looked at my ar and found one that needs to be replaced and I have tie-rod ends to replace as well. What are the other items that need to be done? Not uncommon on vw/audi for CV boots to crap out.

most people forget about the allroad - the adjustable suspension in cooperation with the tripod design of the front axles does add more stress on the CV boots than in any other car.
But for the statistics, 3 sets in 6 years or 120k miles, so every 2 years would be average.
And if you add environmental challenges like snow/water/salt/gravel etc, then it could contribute to a shorter lifetime.
