If he's raising the car on a lift that lets the suspension hang, no need to go into jack mode. If he's lifting one corner at a time, then it should be placed in jack mode first: Key on, hold in both up and down buttons on dash for five or more seconds then jack.

oops. i gave him the owner's manual, we found the jack mode. told him the story about the blown bags. He said they have been doing air suspension for years, continentals and such, they would just disconnect battery. told him i did not care what he did as long as he did as long as he did not blow my bags. i need to call. tis almost time to turbo.

disconnecting the battery... you can introduce problems by disconnecting the battery.

jack mode is there for a reason.

always loved my allroad. today i love it just a little more. ride is back on track. a great deal of comfort to find a local guy that can take care of regular maintenance items. He has my vote.

If you already hear knocking, the damage is done. The joints need to be replaced. Drive it until you can either:

a: afford the time and money to have it repaired;
b: can't take the noise.
