Default Darn kid outgrew the Britax Roundabout!!!!

My 19 month old has pretty much outgrown his Britax Roundabout (mostly in the shoulders and I've already removed the crush foam from the shoulders to buy some time). He's clearly no longer comfortable in the seat. Anyway, the new Britax Wizard has been getting so-so reviews because the kids can't see around the new head restraint and my kid is definitely a rubber-necker. So, what's out there that's broader in the shoulders and still doesn't take up the whole back seat (and the wife had already vetoed the Britax Husky)?

Default Jeez, that's a big kid. My 3 year old son still fits in his roundabout

I am also researching what replacement seat to get in the next few months.

Default Our daughter the same age has about another 1-1.5" of torso length to go...

...before she outgrows the Roundabout too. Hopefully, she'll make it to age 24 months before that hapens, and we'll just go straight to a booster seat then. She's about the size of lots of 3 year olds.

Default A lot of people tell us he's big, but....

....he's not "chunky" big, he's just big. Big shoulders, big hands, long fingers, 37lbs and 34 inches tall...just big. We picked up a Graco Ultra CarGo seat because it allows us to use the 5 point harness the longest. The other Graco we have he likes, but he's getting cramped in there, too. He grew out of his infant carrier the same way, too - no shoulder room.

Default My son turned 3 in August, He is @ 37, 38 inches tall and @ 36, 37 lbs.

Shoulder straps are in the second from the top loops. Still has room to grow taller in the seat, but only a few more lbs till the 40 lb limit.

My wife and I just had a similar problem with our 2 1/2 yr old. We went with the Wizard and are quite happy with it (along with our son, who does like to check things out). It's a nice seat and seems rock solid. I drive an S4 avant, but it fits quite well. There was no way the Husky was going back there and the advice I got was "sell the car."

As for the Wizard, babies R us has a 90 day return policy, so we were able to test it out without worrying about shelling out >$250 for a seat my son wouldn't ride in.

Recaro child seats do not have integrated 5-point harnesses.
