Default Are you a mechanical engineer? I would like to see your example of going from 200 to 400 hp showing

what percentage increase in loss would be.

Corky Bell(who is a mechnical engineer) in his book says there is none if drivetrain stays the same.

Default There is a guy in Denver who has a pair of blown vipers and a blown vette...

One of the vipers made 580whp on 91, but it had a HUGE intercooler and meth injection.
The other viper with a stock engine made 530whp on straight 91 and the vette with the 5.7l couldn't crack 500whp in Denver on 91.
So on those big block motors you could probably do it, but it sure is not happening on a 2.7t.

Default Corky Bell says alot of things...

He has been wrong before and his books have been changed and updated. Especially his views on turbos.
Verruckt is correct and you don't need to be a mechanical engineer to understand why. Ask yourself why high power cars have transmission coolers if drivetrain loss doesn't increase.

Default Aren't coolers for keeping fluid from overheating, not for 'drivetrain loss'?

Often, when things get warmer, they actually move easier, not 'harder'.

So I wonder why drivetrain loss would increase as things get warmer? That is, assuming the fluid temps are all still within their operating range.

Can you state what the formula is that calulates your theory?

I would, but this car is used for boat towing, road trips, deep snow, dirt - "all roads"...

Default I just saw a post the other day from a guy running a 331ci small block ford making over 1000 whp

running 93 octane. He made sure everybody knew his was injecting a large amount of methanol also. I am sure a properly put together stroked/bored small block ford/chevy in the 408/427 ci range could make 600 whp on 91 octane. They shouldn't need to run more the 10 psi of boost to do it either?
